THERAPEUTIC WRITING WORKSHOP ![]() The concept of therapeutic writing that I have been practicing is based on the idea that there are three levels of transfer between individuals and their surroundings. Mental health difficulties can lie in patterns that became a part of us during our primary and secondary socialization as well as in the unsolved traumas that can block harmonic and creative functioning. Writing can help us to make things conscious and so begin to remove the causes of our troubles and enable us to create a distance from them. However we must not forget that the process of transforming primary patterns is a long-term process that is sometimes painful. So we need to be kind, patient and understanding about ourselves. We have to set up a relationship with our inner child and by doing this harmonize our inner world. Therapeutic writing is not a substitute for psychotherapy, it is just another way to transfer deep personal feelings into text. This workshop consists of an introduction and the opportunity to write three kinds of texts - letters, stories and diaries - which relate to three levels of relationship with yourself, your important others and the public. The outcomes of this workshop depend on how participants embrace the basic assumptions that underlie therapeutic writing. These are: In this workshop we are going to work together embracing these assumptions and exploring ways of writing and reading that can lead us towards more positive self-image, greater self-confidence and higher levels of trust in ourselves. Whilst outcomes cannot be guaranteed I am sure that everyone will have the opportunity to work, through writing, with their mental health issues and develop their understanding of some of the patterns that are preventing them living life to the full. The main aim of this workshop is to introduce individuals to another way of accessing self-therapy. Participants will have different outcomes from the workshop and they can decide whether they want to take the opportunity of having their texts published on www.depra.si The workshop includes individual consultations. Participants need to bring a mirror, paper to write on and a pen. The workshop will probably arouse emotions, so prepare yourself for writing about them. I look forward to meeting you and working with you. The place and date of the workshop will be defined after we collect enough notifications from your country. The maximum of participations for one workshop is 9.
